Michael F. Bergeron, PhD, FACSM

Michael F. Bergeron, PhD, is a clinical and scientific advisor on sport sciences, medicine, and performance health for the WTA Women’s Tennis Association. He is also a visiting scholar in the Department of Health Sciences at the University of Hartford. Dr. Bergeron is internationally recognized for his research and leadership in exercise-heat stress and physiological strain, hydration challenges in sport, youth athletic health, and sport concussion. He is a member of the Academic Advisory Board for the International Olympic Committee post-graduate Diploma Program in Sports Medicine. He also serves as an editorial board member for multiple sport and health journals. 

Eric Chan-Tin, PhD

Dr. Eric Chan-Tin is currently an associate professor in the Department of Computer Science, the lead of the Center for Cybersecurity and Privacy, and the principal investigator for the NSA/DHS Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense at Loyola University Chicago. He received his PhD from the University of Minnesota and BA from Macalester College. His research areas are in network security, distributed systems, privacy, anonymity, and at the intersection of cybersecurity and social sciences. Dr. Chan-Tin has received over $1.4 million in external funding for his research. He has published more than 45 peer-reviewed papers. In 2020, he was recognized as a Master Researcher in the College of Arts and Sciences at Loyola University Chicago.

Glen Davis

Glen Davis has 40 years of beverage experience in juice, dairy, beer, and bottled water plants. He has been involved in IBWA for more than 29 years, chairing multiple committees and sub-committees and is currently co-chair of IBWA’s Technical and Education Committees. Glen holds degrees in biology, chemistry, and archeology. He also has specialized training in HPLC, SPC, thermal processing, product development, and packaging.

Joe Doss

Joe Doss has served as president and CEO of the International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) since 1999. He has extensive experience in association management, food and drug issues, government affairs, public relations, and related legal matters. Joe has a BA in government from The College of William and Mary and a JD from George Mason University School of Law. Joe is a member of the Bar in Virginia and the District of Columbia. He is a member of the Food and Drug Law Institute and the American Bar Association.

Majid Entezarian

Majid Entezarian holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from McGill University. He has over 25 years of industry and academic experience. Currently, he is senior technical specialist with the Separation and Purification Science Division (SPSD) of 3M. His focus is on filtration and purification and covers high purity water applications for industrial/food and beverage applications. Majid has worked with several bottled water suppliers to optimize their filtration processes and address their quality assurances for bacteria and bio-burden control.

Steven Feltman

Steve Feltman is a food safety and quality auditor specializing in beverages and food packaging with decades of experience in the bottled water industry. Steve was an active member of IBWA for 28 years and a Certified Plant Operator. Steve is HACCP certified and was a registered lead auditor with the Safe Quality Food Institute (SQFI) for 11 years and a subcontractor to Eagle Food Registrations. As an Eagle food safety auditor, Steve has been conducting IBWA audits since 2015.

Alex Goldfayn

Alex Goldfayn is the CEO of The Revenue Growth Consultancy, which helps clients grow their sales by 15 to 30% annually. Among solo consulting firms, it is among the largest and most successful practices. He is a three-time Wall Street Journal bestselling author. His three most recent books are all WSJ bestsellers: Pick Up The Phone & Sell (published by Wiley in September, 2021); 5-Minute Selling (Wiley, August 2020) and Selling Boldly (Wiley 2018). His 2015 book, The Revenue Growth Habit was honored as the sales book of the year by 800-CEO-Read, and Evangelist Marketing was published in 2012 by BenBella Books.

CR Hall

CR Hall is the owner of Hall’s Culligan Water. Hall’s is Culligan’s largest franchisee; it employs 1,000 across 42 locations in 10 states and is headquartered in Wichita, Kansas. CR is also the president of PrairieFire Coffee, which is a roaster and distributor of premium coffee for offices, restaurants, convenience stores, institutions, and retailers. This company employs 60 with nine locations in the states of Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Nebraska.

Gary A. Hemphill

Gary A. Hemphill, the managing director of research at Beverage Marketing Corporation (BMC), has more than 25 years of experience in the beverage industry. He directs BMC’s extensive line of information products and services, including comprehensive beverage databases, market reports, directories, tracking services, and customized information consulting projects. Gary holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ohio State University.

Henry R. Hidell, III

Bob Hidell is the founder of Hidell International. He has provided consulting services to the beverage,  drinking water, food, and nutrition industries since 1972. His professional expertise spans the spectrum of business, technical, and educational services with specific expertise in the formulation of business strategies, mergers and acquisitions, and turnkey development of beverage bottling facilities. Bob is recognized as an expert in international economic and business development.

Bob Hirst

Bob Hirst has almost 50 years of experience in water in a broad array of scenarios, including surface water, ground water, drinking water, and wastewater. He has worked for both regulatory agencies and private industry companies. Bob worked for IBWA for more than 23 years and retired in March 2022. He continues to work with IBWA, now as a consultant for Sonoran Drinking Water Advisors LLC, which is based in Arizona.

Matt Howard

Matt Howard oversees The Water Council’s sustainability and stewardship initiatives and has more than 15 years of experience in sustainability program development and management. He created the world’s first professional credentialing program for water stewardship professionals and made the business case for use of the International Water Stewardship Standard (“AWS Standard”) in the North American marketplace. Matt also oversees The Water Council’s corporate water stewardship programs and advisory services. He has an MA from George Washington University and a BA from Valparaiso University.

Al Lear

Al Lear is IBWA’s vice president of science and research. In his role, Al serves as a staff liaison with the IBWA Technical Committee, Environmental Sustainability Committee, Drinking Water Research Foundation, and related subcommittees and task forces. His 30+ years of beverage and bottled water industry experience include quality assurance, process control, packaging, laboratory certification and analysis, water source development, evaluation and permitting, and plant startups.

Robert Lemke

Bob Lemke is the director of human capital services at Grant Thornton LLP. As one of Grant Thornton LLP’s human capital practice leaders, Bob advises boards and senior leadership on the strategic, governance, and technical aspects of executive and employee rewards. Bob’s client and corporate experiences span over 25 years as a total rewards and human resources leader. Bob earned his master’s degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Illinois State University and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).

Cory Martin

Cory Martin is IBWA’s vice president of government relations, joining the industry in February 2017. At IBWA, Cory oversees all lobbying and political engagement activities for the industry. Cory is a graduate of the George Washington University School of Political Management, receiving a master’s in legislative affairs; he received his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University.

Bob Mason

Bob Mason was appointed senior vice president of operations at Primo Water Corporation in June 2019. Prior to joining Primo, Bob served as chief operating officer at Santa Energy, where he focused on sales, marketing, human resources, and operations. Prior to Santa, he spent nearly 30 years at Nestle Waters North America, where he was vice president of customer operations for its Ready Refresh home and office water delivery business.

Patrick McCarthy

Patrick McCarthy is an experienced energy efficiency leader with 12 years’ experience. Patrick leads Antea Group’s Facility Optimization services team. His experience working at building types of all different industries has resulted in more than 1,500 successfully implemented strategies across all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) building systems. Patrick is adept in identifying and applying for federal, state, and utility energy credits, incentives, and financing to encourage implementation for energy, water, and GHG/carbon reduction opportunities.

Paul Melville

Paul Melville is a national managing principal with Grant Thornton LLP’s Corporate Finance group. Melville has over 25 years of experience in all areas of restructuring and turnaround, including several cross-border restructuring situations. He has advised stakeholders (e.g., bank groups, customers, suppliers, and shareholders) in a number of different restructuring scenarios, including company viability, reconstructions and debt restructuring, strategic options, and formal insolvency.

Rae Mindock

Rae Mindock is the program manager for Responsible Water Programs at SCS Global Services. She has been actively involved with the water stewardship programs, including the AWS Standard, since its inception. Rae has conducted all phases of stewardship activities from implementation to certification management. An AWS Credentialed Professional Specialist, Rae also has a BS in chemical engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Colleen Muñoz, PhD

Colleen Muñoz, PhD, is an associate professor of health sciences who teaches courses on a variety of physiological and pathological conditions. She publishes laboratory and field-based research in the areas of hydration, exercise, and stress physiology. Her most recent work explores chronic low water intake and acute water losses on hydration biomarkers, fluid regulatory hormones, and perceptual outcomes. Colleen serves the scientific community through committee work with the American College of Sports Medicine and its New England chapter.

Brian Neal

Brian Neal, who works as a technical manager for Eurofins Food Assurance, manages the audit programs delivered by Eurofins. During the past nine years, Brian has worked either for a certification body as a food safety auditor or as its technical manager. Prior to working for a certification body, he spent 10 years working in food manufacturing – in the Meat and Produce sectors. Brian earned a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Oklahoma State University. Additionally, he holds a master’s degree in Business Administration.

James “JP” Toner

With over 30 years of experience in the public affairs arena, James P. (J.P.) Toner, Jr. is currently IBWA’s director of government relations, where he handles state and local government relations and lobbying and management of the IBWA PAC. In that role, J.P. testifies on legislation, authors comments, works with state and local government organizations, and monitors state and local legislative and regulatory activity across the United States on behalf of the Association and its members. Prior to joining IBWA, J.P. was manager of external affairs at Edison Electric Institute, worked as director of grassroots consulting for Aristotle, and manager of political involvement programs at the Public Affairs Council.

Louis F. Vittorio, Jr., PG

With more than 30 years of experience in water resource development and management, Louis Vittorio is currently the director of water resources for Primo Water North America. Primo is a leading pure-play water provider in North America and Europe. Primo’s water solutions expand consumer access to purified, spring, and mineral waters to promote a healthier, more sustainable lifestyle while simultaneously reducing plastic waste and pollution.

Rick Zimmer

Rick Zimmer is a senior manager at Eurofins Eaton Analytical, LLC, the largest water and beverage testing laboratory in the United States. Rick holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees and has over 25 years of experience working in the water and beverage industry as a project manager, account manager, customer service manager, regulatory specialist, and sales director. Rick has presented at more than 50 locations and venues (in person and virtual) on water related topics to both industry and the public, as well as authored publications in several industry journals.

The Drinking Water Research Foundation (DWRF) Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that this year’s fundraiser will be held at the historic Palmer House Hilton.  A lively casino night is planned, which will include a buffet dinner, drink ticket, and a variety of casino tables.

Not one for the tables? Use the evening to socialize and enjoy the company of other conference attendees. Tickets are $175 per person ($80 tax-deductible) and ticket supply will be limited on-site, so please register for the event by Wednesday, October 5, 2022.
